SALE
I don't know if these sale prices will end on Friday or not, but if you've been itching to buy a quality 2m/1.25cm/70cm tri-band HT that happens to be water resistant (JIS7 submersible), then look no further and get it while it's on sale - Yaesu's VX-6R is the one for you, and it's on sale for $209.95!! This would make a great handheld for any level of license, and it usually sells for $249.95 (I know because I've watched the price for years). Since COVID, it was infrequently discounted by $20, and sold for $229.95. The price would then jump back to its usual retail price.
For what I believe to be an Easter sale, it is now $209.95, and you won't find it for less, unless you buy a used model. Even then, I've seen used models in good condition selling for $175 or so on the 4-Sale forums on QRZ and QTH, many of these sold with "Second owners - not sure of its age" in the description. Is it a dependable transceiver? He!! yeah it is. The radio rocked the handheld market when it became available a twenty years ago. Want more info? Well, you'll have to wait for my review of this HT, which I've been working on for the past couple weeks (the review will be posted in about 10 days, but I doubt it will still be $209.95 by then, but trust me, it's a positive review).
If you don't have enough dough in the cookie jar, the Yaesu FT-60R is on sale as well. It's built to last and solid as a rock. I bought one of these when they first came out (around the time that the VX-6R arrived), and I think I paid $159.95 for it back then. The sale price on the FT-60R is $139.95, and will last you as long as you own it.
If you could stretch you money another $70, you could get the VX-6R, but either way - your a winner!
I checked a minute or two ago and both units are still on sale. It is a good deal, and full disclosure - I bought a 2nd VX-6R last night (couldn't afford not to pass on this price).
So that's it for this post (a lot shorter than the one on SSB before it, eh?), and if you're in the market for either one or both of these handhelds, don't procrastinate too long, because this discount will end sooner, not later.
